Nanette Shapiro: Untitled, from the series Imagined Landscapes
2018, pastel and mixed media on sanded paper
7 Arts Gallery, 125 Lincoln Ave., 505-437-1107 The exhibition Imagined Landscapes by Nanette Shapiro continues through February. Shapiro’s works reside on the borderland between abstraction and representation, but each piece begins as an automatic drawing. She achieves a strong sense of color and depth using a variety of mediums. “My intention is to further my study of texture and color alongside and amidst the language of abstraction,” she writes on her website. Shapiro offers free workshops on automatic drawing on Saturday, Feb. 10, and Feb. 17 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Space is limited. Call 518-522-8744 to register.
