My converted British fireboat, (“Fire in the Belly,” October 2013), finally sailed the Inside Passage. Alaska’s Glacier Bay National Park was the ultimate destination. Holland America’s 778foot cruise ship, held station nearby as her passengers enjoyed the highlight of their trip. I radioed the cruise liner to ask if someone could take a photo of our vessel. The response was a polite but frosty, “Our photographers are busy with our passengers.”
Fortunately, a nearby cruising couple overheard the futile exchange. “We’ll take your picture if you take ours.” In this photo, I couldn’t resist showing the sheer size of the looming over us.
