UNDERWATER TOUGH

So, now that you’ve got all your equipment and you’re PADI-certified for scuba diving, what’s next? Well, if you want to document all that shimmers and glimmers underwater from the Caribbean to Kona, try out the new TG-Tracker waterproof video camera from Olympus.

Featuring many of the bells and whistles of more expensive cameras, the TG-Tracker offers waterproof shooting to 100-foot depths without a special housing, a wide-angle frame-of-view (so you can get the entire whale in frame), and an LED headlamp to illuminate that chest of sunken treasure.

In addition to its shooting chops, the TG-Tracker is packed to the gills with data-tracking tools that pair with onboard GPS including e.Compass. It also sports an accelerometer and barometric pressure, temperature, and water sensors. And if shooting in 4K will be completely wasted on you, it still features a host of shooting options that more or less mimic a standard GoPro.

Want to use the TG year-round? Well, it’s got those features, too. It’s freeze-resistant for your ski vacation in Gstaad, and supposedly shatter-resistant (up to 7 feet) when you crash your mountain bike. Though we imagine the latter is on a case-by-case basis. This new Olympus is a great, low-cost introduction to adventure filmmaking, dry, hot, wet, or cold.— JC

DOCKTAIL BAR

Perhaps the ultimate in booze-cruise innovation, the Docktail Bar might be the piece of boat gear you never knew you needed. Based on the Rod Holder Mount design developed to keep your Magma grills securely perched on your boat’s gunwale, the Docktail Bar is by far the best solution for keeping your wet bar stable and accessible outside your galley. Measuring roughly 19 inches by 15 inches, the bar is essentially a sandwich of durable King Starboard plastic with several holes milled into the top layer. At the largest size, the holes can accommodate 2-liter soda bottles, but can also be plugged using Docktail’s inserts all the way down to snuggly fit a 12-ounce can.

A turnkey tightener makes for easy leveling, ensuring you a flat, stable surface no matter where you mount it. When not in use, the bar folds flat for easy storage.— MF
