Read­ing ther­apy dog lends an ear

CUM­BER­LAND — Want to brush up on your read­ing skills? Love dogs? Prac­tice read­ing with a ther­apy dog who loves to lis­ten to sto­ries.

The Chil­dren’s Room of the Cum­ber­land Pub­lic Li­brary is host­ing a unique pro­gram, Paws to Read, on the sec­ond Thurs­day of the month, through De­cem­ber. The dates for this read­ing pro­gram are Oct. 12, Nov. 9 and Dec. 14 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and will have a drop-in for­mat, no reg­is­tra­tion re­quired. Read­ers, age 12 and un­der, will have a 15-minute read­ing ses­sion, first come, first served. Par­tic­i­pants should bring a book with them so they are ready to read. This pro­gram is for chil­dren who are read­ing on their own — age 12 and un­der. All vol­un­teers teams pro­vided by Wind­walker Pet Ther­apy.
