Mounties win fourth straight match
WOONSOCKET — The Mount St. Charles girls tennis team has rebounded from an 0-4 start to reach .500 after dominating South Kingstown, 7-0, Friday in a Division I contest.
No. 1 singles player Isabella Coppolino posted her most impressive victory of the season with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Taylor Colbert, while Julia Kinnear, Saher Arora and Katie Koller combined to drop just 11 games in their straight-set victories.
Mount St. Charles (4-4 Division I) dominated the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches, while Alex Wyatt and Piper O’Connell posted a three-set win at No. 3 doubles.
The Mounties are back in action Tuesday at Smithfield.
Woonsocket rolls past Central
WOONSOCKET — Woonsocket No. 4 singles player Lilliana Kouki posted a three-set victory, while the Villa Novans also received singles victories from junior Holly Letourneau and Brianna Tsouvalos to earn the Villa Novans a 5-2 Division III victory over Central at Alysworth.
Woonsocket (3-5 Division III) also received victories from the No. 2 doubles team of Emily Flannary and Kara Richer and the No. 3 doubles team Tianna Carpenter and Rushie Vilane.
The Villa Novans visit Pawtucket’s Veterans Park Monday to take on St. Raphael.
Panzo wins; Tigers cruise
PAWTUCKET — Shea sophomore Sophia Panzo was the individual star in Friday afternoon’s intracity showdown with Tolman, but the Tigers won the other six matches to secure a 6-1 Division III victory at Slater Park.
Panzo, who is undefeated in Division III this season, posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Fatou Samb. The winless Raiders host Hope at Duffy Courts Monday.
Tolman (2-6 Division III) received a three-set victory from Juilene Sequen over Erike DaCruz at No. 3 singles, while Sarah Colson and Shania DaLomba also picked up singles wins. Tolman hosts Scituate Monday.
