1956 Coach Vin McCrystal’s Saint Raphael Academy elev
en expects little trouble with De LaSalle, who have one threat in QB Terry Toppa, when they meet the Crusaders at McCoy Stadium for a 10:30 Saturday morning tilt. The SRA offensive line starts Gene Quinn and Ron Anderson at the ends, Doug O’Brien and either Gerry Gaudreau, who has been ill, or Don Malo at the tackles, Ed Bolton and Gerry Corrigan at the guards and Bob McCaughey at center. McCrystal’s backfield has QB Bill Greene, fullback Dick Brazeau and halfbacks Bob Kulaga and Bob Perreault. 1966 End Mike Messier time and again halted advances with
clutch tackles and middle guard Ed Kozatek tackled the Pilgrim punter at the four-yard line with 40 seconds left in the first half that ultimately provided Tolman with its lone score as the Tigers edged the Warwick eleven 7-6 in a bruising defensive battle. QB Steve Moreau went over from the three on second-down for the tying touchdown and Jeff White’s perfect placement then provided Tolman with its margin of victory. Offensively, Bill Histen and Carl Hargreaves combined for 106 yards in 27 carries for coach Gig Pariseau.
1976 Dave Guise and Rich DelGrande each recovered a fum
ble and along with Jeff Tierney’s interception all led to touchdowns as Lincoln routed league rival Johnston 25-6. The Lions’ TD’s were tallied by Roger Sacilotto on a six-yard run, Brian Sullivan’s two-yard blast, a 32-yard aerial from QB Peter Belanger to Tierney and Tierney’s 68-yard interception return. Coach Paul Dalpe praised linemen DelGrande and Bob Crosetto and backs Chris Craik and Terry Borelli for keeping the Panthers bottled up all afternoon.
