Philadelphia Style

LETTER FROM THE PUBLISHER

-

Philadelphia certainly knows how to throw a party. After the city-halting visit of Pope Francis in 2015 and the celebrity-filled 2016 Democratic National Convention, our beloved Philly will once again be the focal point of national media buzz as Chicago passes the torch to host the 82nd Annual NFL Draft April 27 to 29.

The NFL Draft returns to the City of Brotherly Love for the first time since 1961 but the Draft has much deeper ties to Philly: The inaugural NFL Draft was held here in 1936 and Jay Berwanger became the first player drafted to an NFL team. Coincidentally (or not) it was the Eagles.

More than 200,000 fans are expected to crowd the Benjamin Franklin Parkway during the threeday event. Landmarks from City Hall to the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where Rocky famously tread, will be on full display. Fans will have an opportunity to meet current and former players and have photo opps with the Vince Lombardi Trophy. A windfall of over $80 million is expected to impact local retail, restaurants, and hospitality industries with the homecoming of this prestigious American tradition.

Philadelphia Style reacted accordingly, picking two of the most stylish Eagles players, Brent Celek and Rodney Mcleod, to appear on our Spring cover in their off-the-field attire. All eyes will be on Philadelphia this April and we are proud to be there covering it all for you.
