La dolce vita: Italian jewelry brand Bulgari debuts in Philly with two new timepieces in tow.
What do Bella Hadid and Lily Aldridge have in common? If you guessed supermodels with chiseled cheekbones and matching Victoria’s Secret angel wings, you’re right. What’s more, these brunette beauties are also the newest faces of Bulgari. The storied accessories house, which began as a jewelry shop in Rome in 1884 and now includes everything from watches to leather goods and fragrance, just opened its first store in Pennsylvania at the King of Prussia Mall. “King of Prussia has always been in our thoughts,” says Daniel Patridge, president of Bulgari North America, “but the mall’s new luxury wing was the right opportunity for Bulgari.”
The brand’s Roman roots can be felt throughout the new boutique, a gorgeous mix of marble and bronze splashed with satin and crystal chandeliers. But even a setting this dramatic takes a backseat to the iconic collections on display. The Serpenti is perhaps the best known, a snake motif that coils around rings, bracelets, and some of Bulgari’s most stunning high-jewelry necklaces, while the B.zero1’s mixed-metal pieces are best suited for everyday wear. For summer, King of Prussia is home to two timepiece launches: the reinterpreted Serpenti watch with six different colored straps and the Octo Finissimo Automatic, Bulgari’s latest world-record winning men’s watch for its ultra-thin profile. “The founders of Bulgari are still very involved,” says Paltridge. “There’s a real mix of history and modernity to the brand.
