Trailer a first look at filmed-in-Pittsburgh ‘Fences’
The “Fences” movie trailer that was seen over the weekend before “The Magnificent Seven,” also starring Denzel Washington, became available online Tuesday.
The scenes are tight, so the fact that it was filmed in Pittsburgh isn’t quite in evidence. The late August Wilson, a Pittsburgh native, adapted his Pulitzer Prize- and Tony-winning play for the screen. This is the first movie adaptation, directed by Mr. Washington and starring Viola Davis, his Broadway co-star in the Tony Awardwinning revival.
The Paramount movie was filmed in its original Hill District setting and in neighborhoods including the West End this summer. “Fences” is due in movie theaters Christmas Day.
