MINNESOTA over Middle Tenn St by 11
As we expected, the Blue raiders bounced back off the turf last week with a solid win at Syracuse as 7.5-point dogs to even their ledger at 1-1 on the season. Minnesota also bounced back from a lethargic season-opening win over Buffalo by banishing Oregon State’s Beavers to the endangered species list with a 48-14 thrashing. However, unlike past Minnesota editions that were famous for smoke-and-mirror wins, a 2-0 start for P.J. Fleck’s troops this season has been well-earned on the field with stat victories of 146 and 186 yards. The visitor in this series has cashed two straight tickets, and a 12-5 SU and 11-6 ATS mark in games following a SU underdog win under head coach Rick Stockstill looks good for MTSU – until you note that the Raiders are just the last six in this spot. We prefer Fleck’s 14-7 ATS record in his career off back-to-back wins, including 3-0 ATS in non-conference clashes. While we respect the accomplishments of coach Stockstill and his QB son, Brent, we’re simply not interested in trying to impede the flow of Minnesota’s boats just yet.
