UTAH over San Jose St by 24
The shield-less Spartans have certainly been gashed in their two games against FBS foes this season, losing 98-22 on the scoreboard and by a combined 613 total yards on the ‘ITS’ scorecard. However, like last year when they fell to Utah, 34-17, they catch the Utes in a vulnerable spot: after their Holy War with BYU and right before their conference opener. We’re not fully committed to backing Jose but we are a bit wary of laying the boatload with an aggressive, defensive-minded Utah squad (held the Cougars to 233 total yards) that has committed 11 penalties in each of their first two games, is 1-4 SUATS in their last five after facing BYU and scored more than 27 points (today’s number) only six times last season. In other words, this looks to be another Holy Bore for a Utes squad that has much bigger game in mind starting next week. With that, we say take it or leave it.
