Mississippi over CALIFORNIA by 6
At first glance, this has all the makings of an upset with the 2-0 Bears beaming with confidence and Johnny Reb eyeing a rematch with Alabama (lost, 48-43, last season despite leading 24-3 late in the 2nd quarter). However, a deeper look shows that the Bears’ win in North Carolina may be nothing more than average and their home victory over Weber State is of the ‘inside-out’ variety as they were outgained by 139 yards. In addition, the Rebels get a week off before facing the Tide and that should lead to a focused effort. Sure, we’re well aware of Mississippi’s malodorous 7-221 ATS mark in their last 30 games as road favorites, including 0-7 ATS following consecutive wins. However, the feeling here is that the Berkeley Bears may not have enough firepower to go against the recently divorced Rebels who have managed to put up 46 PPG and 537 YPG under interim head coach Matt Luke. Slight lean to the visitors in what should be an entertaining, late-night affair.
