NORTH TEXAS over Old Dominion by 16
Glad we’re not a North Texas player or coach forced to attend this week’s game review to see what went wrong. Yes, when you allow your opponent to score 69 points – the most since Oklahoma dropped 79 on the Mean Green to open the 2007 season – it’s going to be a LONG session pointing out mistakes. However, we’re sure Bobby Wilder and his ODU coaching staff are going to spend just as much time checking out the footage to bolster their game plan for this evening’s meeting at Denton. Yes, while the Green were red-faced after the 69-31 beatdown by FAU (their first CUSA loss of the season), they’re still tied atop the West Division and anxious to regain their momentum after having a 3-game win streak snapped by the Owls. On the flip side, the Monarchs find themselves at the bottom of the CUSA East at 0-3, 2-5 – which is a far cry from last year’s 10-win edition. Old Dominion is also being outstatted by 146 YPG, as opposed to outgaining foes by 51 YPG in 2016. The struggling visitors own a flimsy 1-6 ATS mark away versus .500 or greater opposition, which fits nicely with UNT’s 6-2 ATS effort as conference chalk of more than 7 points. The finishing touch comes courtesy of the SMART BOX as it advises us to fade ODU this evening. Consider it done.
