OHIO ST over Illinois by 36
The Buckeyes have covered four of the last five games in this series, and made a serious statement last week about wanting to be the first 2-loss team to make the playoffs. They still have plenty of work to do but don’t look for HC Urban Meyer to let up on the gas. Having said that, we’re not about to jump off a 40-foot high board with them today, especially with Ohio State just 2-6 ATS as conference home chalk of more than 31 points. Illini freshman QB Cam Thomas suffered a concussion against the Hoosiers last week, and the anemic Illini offense moved into Indiana territory just once in the first half of the 24-14 loss, with all seven drives ending in punts (Illinois has been forced to go back to QB Jeff George, Jr). Thomas is questionable for this week, and fragile WR Mike Dudek once again looks to be out for the season. If you’re still interested in putting this bushel of points on your card, consider this: Illinois is 30-67 ATS in SU losses as road dogs since 1981, including 6-18 ATS recently. Pass.
