AUBURN over UL-Monroe by 28

Playbook Football (Midweek Alert) - - Miami Florida Over -

How impressive was Auburn last week? They controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball against previously unbeaten Georgia in 40-17 rout that wasn’t as close as the final score might suggest. In fact, the game was such a colossal failure for the Dawgs that Georgia fans are praying for Auburn to beat Alabama next week so the Bulldogs can get another shot at the Tigers in the SEC Championship game. The Georgia folks were particularly incensed over Auburn HC Gus Malzahn’s decision to challenge the spot of the ball for a Georgia first down (he lost) with the game winding down and his team up by 23 points. Regardless, those of you who are assuming that Auburn will simply show up for today’s high noon start and beat ULM by 70 points should realize two things: (1) the Tigers are smack in the middle of the ultimate conference sandwich situation facing a non-conference foe and (2) with the top team in the land set to visit Jordan-Hare Stadium to close out the regular season, Malzahn will keep his team as vanilla as possible before next week’s showdown. Still, the talent gap between these two is huge and Auburn can win easily just by continually handing off to RB Kerryon Johnson, a one-man wrecking crew. Even so, the ATS archives give the visitors a shot at ringing the register here as the Warhawks have gone 4-1 ATS as non-conference dogs of 28 or more points, plus they’re 10-3 ATS versus SEC foes when playing off win of 7 or more points. With Aubbie currently just 3-8 ATS as non-SEC chalk of 28 or more, we’re on the dog in this mother of all letdowns. Get out the big clothespin – you’re going to need it.
