NORTHWESTERN over Duke by 6
A rematch from last season where Duke pummeled Northwestern, 4117, as a 2-point home underdog. It was certainly one of the Wildcats’ worst efforts of the season as they were out-gained by an incredible 540191. The Blue Devils got past Army, 34-14, last week in a game that was much closer in the stats (381-365) than on the scoreboard. Meanwhile, Northwestern was put in a pressure-cooker at Ross-Ade Stadium last week and emerged with a 31-27 win – despite being shut out in the second half. The difference maker was a drive by the Wildcats offense that gobbled up the final 8 minutes of the game and kept the ball away from Purdue. A trip to the ATS archives tells us Pat Fitzgerald’s boys should keep things rolling at Ryan Field today as they’re a profitable in their previous 7 games versus ACC, and 9-2 SU in their last 11 home openers. In what is basically a win-situation where both teams show up 1-0 with nonconference foes on deck, revenge gets the nod today. Cats in the cradle!
