STANFORD over Usc by 8
Southern Cal’s uninspiring win-no-cover over UNLV last Saturday can likely be excused given it was the debut of true freshman QB J.T. Daniels (22/35 for 282 yards a 1 TD) and a probable team look-ahead to this conference clash. But things don’t get any easier. Now the first true freshman to start at QB for the Trojans since 2009 must make his first start in a Pac-12 road game, at one of the toughest venues in collge football: The Farm. Eighth-year Stanford head coach David Shaw owns an outstanding 7322 SU record with the Cardinal, with only FIVE of those losses coming on this field. It’s also hard to argue with Shaw’s 52-15 SU and 40-25-2 ATS in conference games, including 19-9-1 ATS when not favored by 7 or more points. The Cardinal have cashed in four of the last five series get-togethers and should improve on that should USC’s woeful mark as a dog of 6 or less points continue. Yes, Stanford had just as much trouble with stubborn San Diego State last week (trailed 7-0 in 31-10 comeback win) as the Trojans had with the Rebels, but this is not the place to be for USC tonight. Lay it.
