MICHIGAN over Smu by 31
After stumbling out of the gate in their opening 46-23 loss to North Texas (fell behind 17-0 early in the second quarter), the Ponies responded quickly in Week 2’s Battle for the Iron Skillet by jumping out to a 9-0 firsthalf lead against TCU on Thursday night. Unfortunately, the Mustangs ended up with just 225 yards of offense and scored just 3 points the rest of the way in a 42-12 drubbing at the hands of the Horned Frogs. Is this the same Sonny Dykes that was acclaimed as college football’s offensive guru at previous stops? Averaging just 240 YPG thus far certainly makes us wonder. As for Michigan, Jim Harbaugh engineered some positive momentum for the Wolves in last week’s 49-0 whitewash win over Western Michigan, as it marked the first time in a year that a UM wide receiver actually caught a TD pass. The bad news today for the Wolverines is their 2-9 spread record as favorites of 30 points or more when coming off a win in which they scored more than 32 points, coupled with SMU’s
mark when getting more than 3 TDs. If you must, hold your nose and grab the points.
