UAB over Tulane by 6
After waxing ultra-lightweight Savannah State, 52-0, in their season opener, the Blazers paid the price in a 47-24 loss as 8.5-point favorites against Coastal Carolina last week. UAB actually led that game, 24-20, at the half but allowed 27 unanswered points in the second stanza to pull defeat out of the jaws of victory. Expect a bounce-back today, though, as a 25-10 ATS mark as home dogs – including when coming off a loss – is definitely our cup of tea. Tulane has some talented skill position players on offense, including QB Jonathan Banks, RB Corey Dauphine (152 yards on the ground last week versus Nicholls State) and WR Terren Encalade, who caught two long TD passes in the opener against Wake Forest. However, the defense has been horrible, allowing 953 yards in their first two contests (ranked 111th in the nation among 128 teams). The chalk in this series has not fared well, going 1-5 SUATS in the last 6 meetings and we look for that trend to continue at Legion Field today as UAB tries to blaze its way back to a bowl game.
