S CAROLINA over Marshall by 8
Did anyone catch the Georgia vs. South Carolina telecast last week? Every time the Gamecocks did something worthwhile (which wasn’t much), someone uncorked an electronic shrieking Rooster crow that summoned up images of a farm bird with his nads being squeezed in a vise. Come to think of it, that’s pretty much how the not-so-Gamecocks performed against Georgia in last week’s 41-17 mauling in Columbia. Can humbled head coach Will Muschamp motivate his squad to reclaim their spurs and get back in the ring? Our database thinks so, noting that South Carolina stands 8-2 ATS in its third straight home game, and 9-3 ATS as non-SEC home favorites of 10 or more points. We usually don’t have a bone to pick with our resident AI but we feel you should also be aware of Marshall’s 4-0 ATS road success versus non-conference foes over the last 3 years, and the Herd’s noteworthy 4-1-1 ATS dog-log when getting 13 or more points. In truth, there are good numbers for both sides but we want to take a long look at the Gamecocks here as we’re concerned they may have lost their rooster crow (not the electronic one) after that beating by Georgia. Until Muschamp rights the ship, we’ll simply observe and report.
