Bocache e Salvucci
Fifteen years ago Gianluca Bocache and Roberto Salvucci opened a cobblers on the outskirts of Rome. While they only owned a few tools and not much fabric, their enthusiasm more than made up for it. They are now the proud owners of the exclusive shoe store Bocache e Salvucci in central Rome and specialise in customised men’s shoes made from the finest leather. “We’ve always been passionate about craftsmanship,” Gianluca Bocache says.
All shoes are made-to-order on location. While their most expensive pair will set you back 10,000 euros, others are more competitively priced. The price is determined by the quality of the leather the client selects. Veal, suede, alligator and even ostrich and elephant skin are available. “With nine employees, we are great believers in bringing to life the old adage that says shoes are jewellery worn on one’s feet. We strive to make shoes that are comfortable and valuable, that reflect the client’s elegance and personality.”
Spread all over the world, the clientèle consists of Arabic princes, entrepreneurs, Russian business magnates and ordinary men with a passion for elegant footwear. Gianluca regularly travels to the clients’ homes.
