Tucson Festival of Books
Lynne Thomspon of Los Angeles won the 2017 poetry award for a group of poems. Carrie Bindschadler of Oxford, Ohio, won the fiction award for her story “Tortoise.” Lee Anne Gallaway Mitchell of Tucson won the nonfiction award for her essay “Good Lands of Mercy.” Dana Levin judged in poetry, Mark Beauregard judged in fiction, and Donna Steiner judged in nonfiction. The winners each received $1,000 and were invited to attend the ninth annual Tucson Festival of Books. The annual awards are given for a group of poems, a short story or novel excerpt, and an essay or memoir excerpt. As of this writing, the next deadline has not been set.
