Bronx Council on the Arts
Grants of $3,000 each are given annually to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers who reside in the Bronx in New York City. Winners must complete a public service activity as part of the Artists for Community Enrichment program. Students enrolled in a degree-granting program are ineligible. Submit up to 15 pages of poetry or 30 pages of prose, a résumé, and proof of residency by December 8. There is no entry fee. Visit the website for complete guidelines. African national or resident, or whose parents are African. Poets who have not yet published a full-length collection are eligible. The prize is cosponsored by Commonwealth Writers and the African Poetry Book Fund. Submit 10 published or unpublished poems of up to 40 lines each via e-mail by December 1. There is no entry fee.
