A prize of $10,000 is given an­nu­ally for a full-length fic­tion or non­fic­tion man­u­script about se­ri­ous phys­i­cal ill­ness by a writer who has per­sonal ex­pe­ri­ence with life-threat­en­ing ill­ness. The win­ner also re­ceives pro­duc­tion and pro­mo­tion of the book as an Audi­ble e-book, and as­sis­tance from Audi­ble to pur­sue print pub­li­ca­tion. Three run­ner-up prizes of $1,000 each and an all-ex­penses-paid trip to at­tend the award cer­e­mony will be given to sto­ries in each of the re­main­ing lan­guages.
