NASA MISSION TO PLANET EARTH /1989

Popular Science - - 74 -

NASA Earth Science (née Earth Science Enterprise, née Mission to Planet Earth) started off as a 25-year program to map the interactions among our pale blue dot’s atmosphere, oceans, and life-forms. As climate change rapidly reshapes the globe, the program’s orbiting instruments are more vital than ever. A league of airborne observatories study everything from floodwaters and weather patterns to soil composition and carbon cycling.
