BIT OF HISTORY

The John B. Hockett Hardware Store was on the south side of Olive Avenue. In 1917 the hardware store was torn down and Main Street was continued to the south. Prior to 1917, the Morton Street School was on the north end of Main Street and the hardware store was on the south end. Some of the sidewalk put down in 1917 is still there on the west side of South Main Street
