Tu­lare County Li­brary cel­e­brates the most re­cent to­tal so­lar eclipse with an event pre­sented by Janet Wood at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 13, in the Visalia Li­brary Blue Room. As a vol­un­teer for NASA’S Jet Propul­sion Lab­o­ra­tory pub­lic out­reach pro­gram, So­lar Sys­tem Am­bas­sadors, Wood will fea­ture high­lights from this year’s To­tal So­lar Eclipse Tour. Come hear about her jour­ney to the eclipse des­ti­na­tion atop Ren­dezvous Moun­tain in Wy­oming and the stops she made along the way. En­joy a walk through pre­his­toric fos­sil beds, the volcanic world of the craters of the moon and the fas­ci­nat­ing ge­o­log­i­cal his­tory of Idaho, Wy­oming and even the Grand Te­tons Na­tional Park. Learn of the world-class en­dan­gered rap­tor con­ser­va­tion pro­gram and gain in­sight into the so­lar eclipse phe­nom­e­non. With both mod­ern science and his­tor­i­cal mythol­ogy, this event is truly stel­lar! m “to­tal So­lar Eclipse: Na­ture’s Most Awe­some Spec­ta­cle” is spon­sored by the Sierra Club’s Min­eral King Group and the Friends of the Tu­lare County Li­brary in part­ner­ship with the Tu­lare County Li­brary.
