Grass­kick­ers head­lin­ing Buz­zard­fest

The Barn, the buz­zards, and the blue­grass mu­sic is com­ing next Satur­day, Oct. 7 at 42 S. Plano St., from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. as the Barn The­ater presents its an­nual Buz­zard and Blue­grass Fes­ti­val on the out­door stage.

Co­or­di­na­tor, Ralph Bourne has man­aged to snag a tal­ented and award-win­ning blue­grass band in the form of Grass­kick­ers The Band to set the evening ablaze in true blue­grass style. The quar­tet of mu­si­cians in­cludes Fres­nans’ Tom Naiman (singer and in­stru­men­tal­ist), Bob Gar­cia (lead singer and man­dolin player), Ron “Bearrr” Mur­ray (singer/song­writer and ukelele bass) and Dan Stein (gui­tar pick­ing and har­mony singer).

“The diver­sity of their in­di­vid­ual styles is what gives the Grass­kick­ers its unique sound,” or­ga­niz­ers said. “You will not leave dis­ap­pointed and your feet may never stop tap­ping af­ter the per­for­mance.”

Join­ing Grass­kick­ers The Band is na­tive, Patti Tor­rey whose mel­low voice and delightful reper­toire of mu­sic will add that ex­tra plus for the evening’s en­ter­tain­ment. Other sur­prises and Buz­zard songs will round out the night.

Tick­ets are only $10 per per­son and may be pur­chased at the gate — no reser­va­tions for this event.

“We’ll have a few chairs and fresh hay bales, but to play it safe, you may want to bring your own lawn chairs,” or­ga­niz­ers said.

The Barn’s own “Ricky Road­kill” wants to re­mind ev­ery­one that if you get hun­gry dur­ing the fes­tiv­i­ties, there will be bar­be­cued ribs, hot dogs, chips and snacks, wa­ter, soda, beer and wine avail­able through­out the evening so bring your ap­petite.

The Barn The­ater is lo­cated at the cor­ner of Olive and Plano (just across the street from the Eastridge Plaza). This is just one of the many events you can ex­pect at the Barn dur­ing its 70th Sea­son. Open­ing the fol­low­ing week­end on Oct. 13, the hi­lar­i­ous com­edy “The Com­plete His­tory of Amer­ica” di­rected by Wendy Plaisted which will be con­tin­u­ing for three full week­ends. And on Nov. 18, it’s the 3rd an­nual Com­edy Night.
