MHS boys wa­ter polo sea­son ends

The sev­enth-seeded Monache High School boys wa­ter polo sea­son came to an end with a 15-8 loss at sec­ond-seeded Clo­vis North on Tues­day in

the first round of the CIF North­ern Cal­i­for­nia Di­vi­sion II Cham­pi­onships. The Ma­raud­ers fin­ished the sea­son with an over­all record of 19-13 and tied for sec­ond in the East Yosemite League af­ter go­ing 5-3 in league.

Nick Tay­lor led Monache in scor­ing with three goals and also had one steal. Ian Azevedo fol­lowed with two goals and a team-high four steals. Gar­rett Keller fin­ished with two as­sists, one goal and one field block. Oliver Ca­marena had one goal and one steal. Both Danan Weisen­berger and Xavier Pala­cios tal­lied one as­sist while JT Lee had two steals. Goalie Brock Fleischmann had 11 blocks and one as­sist.

Last Thurs­day the sec­ond-seeded Ma­raud­ers took home the Div. II run­ner-up plaque af­ter los­ing the Val­ley cham­pi­onship game 16-10 to top-seeded Garces Me­mo­rial (27-6, 5-3 EYL).

The Bron­cos (25-7, 8-2 Tri-river League) were the run­ner-ups in the Div. I Val­ley cham­pi­onships af­ter fall­ing 8-6 to top-seeded Buchanan. Clo­vis North ad­vances to the semi­fi­nals where they will face the third-seeded Raiders of Rio Amer­i­cano.
