Of Gary, IN. Richard Cromwell, age 81, passed away Wed­nes­day, Jan­uary 28, 2015 at Methodist Hos­pi­tal North­lake Cam­pus in Gary, IN. He was born to the late Leigh Bosley and Hat­tie Cromwell in Nor­folk, VA.

Richard is sur­vived by his lov­ing and de­voted wife of 47 years of mar­riage, Bok Sun Cromwell; lov­ing daugh­ters, Allyson, Ava, Bev­erly, Naomi and Kim­berly Cromwell; lov­ing grand­chil­dren, Adri­enne, Anita, Ash­ley and Kameron; lov­ing great­grand­chil­dren, Ali­jah and Aleya; sev­eral other lov­ing fam­ily mem­bers.

Richard was a mem­ber of the St. Au­gus­tine’s Epis­co­pal Church for over thirty years, where he was a mem­ber of the Men’s Club and a Lay Reader. Richard served 22 years in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant First Class and was a Com­bat En­gi­neer De­mo­li­tion Spe­cial­ist. He served in the Korean and Viet­nam Wars, re­ceiv­ing two Pur­ple Hearts and two Bronze Stars, among other awards. Af­ter re­tir­ing from the mil­i­tary, Richard taught in the Gary School Sys­tem for over twenty years.

Visi­ta­tion will be Mon­day, Fe­bru­ary 2, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Main Chapel at the

Ridgelawn Fu­neral Home, 4201 West Ridge Road, Gary, IN 46408, (219) 980-5555. Fu­neral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tues­day, Fe­bru­ary 3, 2015 at the St. Au­gus­tine’s Epis­co­pal Church, 2425 West 19th Av­enue, Gary, IN 46404 with Fa­ther David L. Hyn­d­man of­fi­ci­at­ing. Burial will be at the Ridgelawn Ceme­tery in Gary, IN 46408.

Richard will be deeply missed by his lov­ing, de­voted fam­ily and pre­cious friends. God Grant Him Eter­nal Peace.
