Dut­ton Named Equestrian of the Year

Even­ter Phillip Dut­ton, who earned an in­di­vid­ual bronze medal at the Sum­mer Olympics in Rio, was named 2016 USEF Equestrian of the Year and awarded the Robert P. Strub Trophy dur­ing the USEF Pe­ga­sus Awards Din­ner, held Jan. 13 in Lex­ing­ton, Ken­tucky.

Dut­ton’s com­pe­ti­tion sea­son be­gan with a win on Fern­hill Fugi­tive in the CIC*** at the Red Hills In­ter­na­tional Horse Tri­als. At the Rolex Ken­tucky Three-Day CCI**** he placed fourth on Mighty Nice and fifth on Fern­hill Cubal­awn. He part­nered with Fern­hill Fugi­tive again to win team gold in the FEI Na­tions Cup™ CICO*** at the Land Rover Great Meadow In­ter­na­tional. Following that vic­tory, he was named to the U.S. Event­ing Team that com­peted in Rio. His Olympic part­ner was Mighty Nice, 2016 USEF Horse of the Year.
