Young Talent Shines at NAJYRC
Junior riders (age 14 to 18) and Young Riders (age 16 to 21) competed in dressage and show jumping at the Adequan/FEI North American Junior Young Rider Championships, presented by Gotham North, July 18–23, at HITS-on-the-Hudson in Saugerties, New York. For the first time, the championships included a show-jumping competition for riders age 12 to 14. The eventing NAJYRC was run concurrently with the Event at Rebecca Farm in Kalispell, Montana, July 19–23. Here are the results:
Dressage: Region 3 earned the gold medal in the Young Rider team competition with Bebe Davis and Fiderhit OLD receiving the highest score. The pair also took the individual test. Region 7 won the Junior team championship with Aleyna Dunn and Bivera topping the scoreboard. Dunn also won the individual gold.
Jumping: In the new Children’s team championship, the gold medal went to Zone 10 with member Dylan Laiken and Callao earning gold in the Children’s individual final. The Junior Rider team competition went to Zone 7. A mixed team of Zones 2, 5 and 7 earned the Young Rider championship.
Eventing: A team representing both Area I and Area IV took the CICYO** on a final score of 198. William Zuschlag and RF Southern Command of Area III earned the individual gold. Team gold winner Cornelia Dorr took individual silver with Louis M and individual bronze with Sir Patico MH. In the CHJ-CCI*, Area VI won on a score of 161.6.
