Smith Leads Start to Fin­ish at AEC

In first place af­ter the dres­sage phase with a score of 26.4, Tamra Smith and Mai Baum clinched the U.S. Eques­trian Fed­er­a­tion Na­tional Ad­vanced Horse Tri­als Cham­pi­onship Sept. 2 at the Amer­i­can Event­ing Na­tional Cham­pi­onships in Parker, Colorado. The pair picked up just 1.6 time penal­ties on cross coun­try and then had the only dou­ble-clear show-jump­ing round to fin­ish on 28.0. “He was un­be­liev­able,” said Smith of the 12-year-old Ger­man Sport Horse geld­ing. “He’s the best horse in the world and I’m just so for­tu­nate to be sit­ting on him.”

Jor­dan Lin­st­edt and Re­vi­tavet Ca­p­ato fin­ished se­cond with a score of 39.5. In third place was Smith aboard Fleece­works Royal with 45.4.
