Wood eases past Frank­ford

mprince@mont­gomerynews.com Arch­bishop Wood jumped out to a 21-0 lead af­ter one quar­ter of play and cruised un­til the end, de­feat­ing Frank­ford, 35-6, in a non­league game at Wil­liam Ten­nent High School on Fri­day night.

The sik­ings (2-1, 0-0) saw backup quar­ter­back Tom Gar­lick throw three touch­down passes in the first quar- ter, one to goe San­tas­pago for 51 yards, one for gosh Messina for five yards and one to Chris Rahill for 49 yards to put Wood up 21-0 af­ter three Nick sisco ex­tra points.

In the sec­ond quar­ter, An­drew Guckin ran in a touch­down from two yards out to give Wood a 28-0 lead be­fore Frank­ford fi­nally found the end zone for the first time.

In the fourth, Guckin capped things off with an eight-yard touch­down run, putting Wood back up by four scores in the easy win.

The win helped the sik­ings to re­bound from a tough loss to North Penn the week ear­lier – the de­fend­ing state cham­pi­ons’ first loss in more than a year.

In the win, Gar­lick passed for 184 yards and the three scores, while Guckin led the rush­ing at­tack with 106 yards on the ground.

Wood will now pre­pare for its next game, a visit to Wi­dener Univer­sity to face West Catholic on Fri­day night.
