Wood eases past Frankford
firstname.lastname@example.org Archbishop Wood jumped out to a 21-0 lead after one quarter of play and cruised until the end, defeating Frankford, 35-6, in a nonleague game at William Tennent High School on Friday night.
The sikings (2-1, 0-0) saw backup quarterback Tom Garlick throw three touchdown passes in the first quar- ter, one to goe Santaspago for 51 yards, one for gosh Messina for five yards and one to Chris Rahill for 49 yards to put Wood up 21-0 after three Nick sisco extra points.
In the second quarter, Andrew Guckin ran in a touchdown from two yards out to give Wood a 28-0 lead before Frankford finally found the end zone for the first time.
In the fourth, Guckin capped things off with an eight-yard touchdown run, putting Wood back up by four scores in the easy win.
The win helped the sikings to rebound from a tough loss to North Penn the week earlier – the defending state champions’ first loss in more than a year.
In the win, Garlick passed for 184 yards and the three scores, while Guckin led the rushing attack with 106 yards on the ground.
Wood will now prepare for its next game, a visit to Widener University to face West Catholic on Friday night.
