He is the son of Chong Kim of Hunt­ing­don sal­ley.

Army Na­tional Guard Spec. Brian T. Ruby has grad­u­ated from ba­sic in­fantry train­ing at Fort Ben­ning, Colum­bus, Ga.

Dur­ing the nine weeks of train­ing, Ruby re­ceived train­ing in drill and cer­e­monies, weapons, map read­ing, tac­tics, mil­i­tary cour­tesy, mil­i­tary jus­tice, phys­i­cal fit­ness, first aid, and Army his­tory, core val­ues and tra­di­tions. Ad­di­tional train­ing in­cluded de­vel­op­ment of ba­sic com­bat skills and bat­tle­field op­er­a­tions and tac­tics, and ex­pe­ri­enc­ing use of var­i­ous weapons and weapons de­fenses avail­able to the in­fantry crew­man.

He is the son of Robert and Kim­berly Ruby of Wil­low Grove and is a 2011 grad­u­ate of Up­per More­land High School.

Army Re­serve Spec. gef­frey T. Ward has re­turned to goint Base McGuire-DixLake­hurst, N.g., af­ter be­ing de­ployed to Afghanistan serv­ing in sup­port of lper­a­tion En­dur­ing Free­dom.

En­dur­ing Free­dom is the of­fi­cial name given to an­titer­ror­ism mil­i­tary op­er­a­tions in­volv­ing U.S. troops and al­lied coali­tion part­ners. Re­serve com­po­nent mem­bers from all branches of the U.S. armed forces have been mo­bi­lized, ac­ti­vated and de­ployed along with ac­tive duty mem­bers to sup­port the war against global ter­ror­ism. Mis­sion ob­jec­tives en­com­pass com­bat­ing the in­ter­na­tional ter­ror­ist net­work or regime forces out­side the bor­ders of the United States. U.S. troops serve in South and South­west Asia, Cen­tral Asia, the Ara­bian Penin­sula, the Horn of Africa, and is­lands in the Pa­cific and Europe.

Ward, a mil­i­tary po­lice­man with the 307th Mil­i­tary Po­lice Com­pany, New Kens­ing­ton, has served four years in the mil­i­tary.

He is the son of Bev H. Ward of York Road, Warmin­ster.

Dur­ing the nine weeks of train­ing, the sol­dier stud­ied the Army mis­sion, his­tory, tradition and core val­ues, phys­i­cal fit­ness, and re­ceived in­struc­tion and prac­tice in ba­sic com­bat skills, mil­i­tary weapons, chem­i­cal war­fare and bay­o­net train­ing, drill and cer­e­mony, march­ing, ri­fle marks­man­ship, armed and un­armed com­bat, map read­ing, field tac­tics, mil­i­tary cour­tesy, mil­i­tary jus­tice sys­tem, ba­sic first aid, foot marches, and field train­ing ex­er­cises.

Shana­han is the son of Rich Shana­han of Wil­low Grove and is a 2009 grad­u­ate of Up­per More­land High School.

Michelle Car­lin of Hat­boro was among 79 grad­u­ates who earned a Doc­tor of Phys­i­cal Ther­apy de­gree dur­ing Ar­ca­dia Univer­sity’s com­mence­ment cer­e­mony in gan­uary.

Ni­cholas Boyes, a grad­u­ate of Up­per More­land High School and mem­ber of the Lafayette Col­lege Class of 2013, placed third among more than 180 en­trants in this year’s statewide Stu­dent Writ­ing Com­pe­ti­tion spon­sored by the Penn­syl­va­nia In­sti­tute of Cer­ti­fied Pub­lic Ac­coun­tants.
