Ten­nent’s Van Buskirk wins 285-pound, OW ti­tles

“Hon­estly, I felt what’s it was like to lose. And right now it’s just in­tol­er­a­ble to me,” the ko­rth Penn ju­nior said. “I just want to win so bad.”

Price got what he wanted Satur­day at the District One Class AAA East Wrestling Tour­na­ment at Hat­boro-Hor­sham, earn­ing a trio of pin­fall vic­to­ries, the last in 1:18 over Penns­bury’s Ernest Tes­sein to claim the district ti­tle at 182 pounds.

“Last year, my sea­son was cut short. But I was de­ter­mined this year that noth­ing EwillF be in my way,” Price said. “I need to work to over­come ev­ery­thing in my way. And that’s ex­actly what I’m do­ing.”

Fel­low hnight Jeff Reimel also won gold, the ju­nior win­ning at 152 pounds as ko­rth Penn claimed the tour­na­ment’s team ti­tle with 91 points.

“Hon­estly, I love it, to win it for Ecoach Robert Shettsline, as­sis­tant coach wacF Fryling and all them,” Price said. “Just to win it for our school. This year, all my se­niors, we’re just all best friends.”

Penns­bury took sec­ond with 74 points, while Coun­cil Rock South was third with 73.5. Pen­nridge used fiUVW-SODFH finLVKHV Ey MunLRU Scott Parker E113F and Ben Ross E120F to come in fourth with 69.5 points.

ko­rth Penn has an area-best four head­ing to re­gion­als, while Pen­nridge is send­ing three. Ri­ley Barth is CB West’s lone qual­i­fier af­ter fin­ish­ing sec­ond at 145, while Soud­er­ton did not have a wrestler ad­vance out of dis­tricts.

Wil­liam Ten­nent’s An­drew Van Buskirk was named the tour­na­ment’s Most Out­stand­ing Wrestler af­ter win­ning the ti­tle at 285.

Ten­nent’s Dy­lan kut­tall E106F and Mark Is­sac E195F will join Van Buskirk at Re­gion­als.

Hat­boro-Hor­sham’s Connor Bod­nar E152F and Up­per Moreland’s Dom DeLau­ren­tis E145F also ad­vanced.

Parker, who took fourth last year at states at 103, earned his first district gold of his ca­reer, as he held off Coun­cil Rock South’s Dan Mar­toc­cio to earn a 2-0 de­ci­sion in the 113 fi­nal.

“We’ve al­ways had tight matches,” said Parker of Mar­toc­cio. “I got up to my feet a lot. I was maybe kind of hop­ing for a stalling call at some point – I never got it. I mean, I just wres­tled smart on bot­tom, he was coming hard with the cra­dle.”

“Ev­ery time I go out there, I go­ing to try and pin some­one,” Ross said. “I don’t feel suc­cess­ful if I just go out try and win by points.”

Pen­nridge’s other re­gional TuDOL­fiHU ZDV .yOH GHnWLOH, who took third place at 138 with a 2-0 de­ci­sion over Brad Hum­ski of Hat­boroHor­sham.

Af­ter two pin­fall wins, Reimel capped off the tour­na­ment with a 13-4 ma­jor de­ci­sion in the 152 chamSLRnVKLS finDO RYHU 1DWKDn Rus­sell of ke­shaminy. The district ti­tle is Reimel’s fiUVW.

“I’m just get­ting bet­ter, hit­ting new moves, try­ing new stuff,” he said. “Just wrestling my­self, not get­ting too cocky, just stay­ing nor­mal.”

Also for ko­rth Penn, Joey O’Brien came in sec­ond in 132 af­ter drop­ping a 5-2 de­ci­sion to Francesco Fabozzi of Cen­tral Bucks East, while Matt Robin­son placed third at 145 by pin­ning CR South’s Lu­cas Mar­toc­cio in 1:56.

Barth took sec­ond at 145 af­ter los­ing 8-1 to Ryan O’Connor of ke­shaminy.

Veit lost to Bing 6-0 in the cham­pi­onship semis, then fell to Harry Mur­ray of Coun­cil Rock South by dis­qual­i­fi­ca­tion in the con­so­la­tion semi­fi­nals.

Shipp, mean­while, lost the 195 cham­pi­onship semi to Marc Isaac of Wil­liam Ten­nent 4-1, then lost to Mitchell Bain of Cen­tral Bucks South in the con­so­la­tion semis by a 2-1 de­ci­sion.

Soud­er­ton ju­nior Ricky voung, who won the Sub­ur­ban One League Con­ti­nen­tal Con­fer­ence ti­tle at 285 last Satur­day, did not wres­tle.
