Dorothy A. Richter
Dorothy A. (Ackerman) Richter of Jenkintown, Abington Township, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Rydal Park, Jenkintown. She was 94.
Born Aug. 2, 1918, in Baltimore, Md., she was a daughter of the late Charles and Theresa (Gorschboth) Ackerman.
Dorothy was the wife of the late Albert T. Richter, with whom she shared nearly 65 years of marriage when he passed away in 2004.
A homemaker, she had been an area resident since 1959.
She had been a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Melrose Park since 1959, where she was a member of the Ruth Circle; she would volunteer for anything that needed to be done.
She was the former captain of the Cedarbrook Country Club Bridge Team.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Brumer of Miami, Fla., her grandson, Jon Brumer of Cutler Bay, Fla.; and her niece, Carla Mcnuay of Ellicott City, Md.
A visitation was held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 27 at John R. Freed Funeral Home, 124 N. Easton Road, Glenside, followed by her funeral at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Roslyn.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Dorothy may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Old vork Road and Melrose Avenue, Melrose Park, PA 19027. John R. Freed Funeral Home, Glenside.
