Cut pieces as directed on patterns. COMPLETING THE SUNFLOWER MUG RUG 2. 3. Arrange the raw ends of the petals around the edge of the flower center, overlapping as necessary to fit as shown in Figure 2; baste to hold. Center the basted petal/center right side up on one side of the 81/2" white solid square with half of the petal/center hanging over the edge as shown in Figure 3. 1. Place two petals right sides together; sew around the outer edges, leaving bottom edge open as shown in Figure 1. Trim point and clip curves. Turn right side out; press edges flat and smooth.
