CUT­TING

Pre­pare pa­per-piec­ing pat­terns as per in­struc­tions and the Pa­per Piec­ing side­bar on page 14. From tan/rust me­tal­lic print: • Cut 8 (41/2" by fab­ric width) strips. Sub­cut strips into 72 (4" x 41/2")

rec­tan­gles for pieces 6 and 7. From tan tonal: • Cut 15 (3" by fab­ric width) strips. Sub­cut strips into 144 (3" x 4")

rec­tan­gles for pieces 2 and 3. From dark brown tonal: • Cut 8 (61/2" by fab­ric width) strips. Sub­cut strips into 72 (4" x 61/2")

rec­tan­gles for piece 1. • Cut 7 (11/2" by fab­ric width) A strips. From black pais­ley print: • Cut 8 (41/2" by fab­ric width) strips. Sub­cut strips into 72 (4" x 41/2")

rec­tan­gles for pieces 6 and 7. • Cut 7 (31/2" by fab­ric width) C strips. • Cut 6 (21/4" by fab­ric width) bind­ing strips. From fuch­sia tonal: • Cut 12 (51/2" by fab­ric width) strips. Sub­cut strips into 144 (3" x 51/2")

COM­PLET­ING THE BLOCKS

1. Pre­pare 36 pa­per-pieced black pais­ley halves with black pais­ley 6/7 pieces and 36 tan/rust halves with tan/rust 6/7 pieces re­fer­ring to pat­tern and Pa­per Piec­ing on page 14 and Fig­ure 1.
