Hospice appoints new CEO

The board of directors of Hospice of the Piedmont has announced the appointmen­t of Ronald Cottrell as the organizati­on’s new president and CEO. Cottrell has 32 years of experience in hospital administra­tion and management and was most recently vice president of business developmen­t at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottes­ville and Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonbu­rg.

“Ron is recognized in the business and hospital community for his superior strategic planning, management, and communicat­ion skills,” says Glenn Rust, chairman of the board for Hospice of the Piedmont. “We are delighted to welcome him to the HOP family and look forward to his leadership in furthering our important mission. “

“I am honored to be appointed by the board to guide this remarkable organizati­on as president and CEO,” says Cottrell. ”I look forward to working with the board, staff, and volunteers to continue to positively transform the way our community views and experience­s serious illness and death.”

Since 1980, Hospice of the Piedmont has been guiding patients and families through their difficult journeys with comfort, compassion and dignity. Hospice of the Piedmont, the region’s oldest missiondri­ven nonprofit hospice organizati­on, provides services that are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance. Thanks to generous donations from the community, no one is turned away due to an inability to pay.
