Heavy-duty Slipper Clutch
As with the 22 buggy, the 22SCT 3.0 gets the new HDS (heavy-duty slipper) clutch to control off-the-line traction and protect the gears when the transmission takes a hit off jumps or through bumps. The star of the show here is the large-diameter slipper spring, which allows for more of a consistent setting and wider range of adjustment. Its larger diameter spreads its load over a wider area, and the larger spacing on the coils allows for more turning of the adjustment nut before it bottoms out and locks up the slipper. The slipper discs that squeeze the pads are tapered, which reduces their weight. The discs also have slots milled out of them on the pad side; this increases their surface area, which allows them to run cooler and reduces more weight.
