Set the Proper Gear Mesh
Spend a little extra time making sure the gear mesh in your vehicle is set properly. Sure, you set the gear mesh when you change a pinion or make a motor change, but is the spur gear spinning freely through a full revolution? Make sure you have a tick of play between the pinion and spur gear, then rotate the spur gear slightly and check it again, rotate a little more, and repeat. Molded spur gears are sometimes slightly out of round and the mesh may be tight in spots, so spending a little extra time checking the mesh and making adjustments may be necessary to get it just right. Since the 17.5-turn motor isn’t as powerful as a mod motor, you can open up the mesh a little more and still be all right.
