TO GLUE OR NOT TO GLUE?

-

It used to be that if you wanted a new set of tires for your car, that meant gluing them to the wheels yourself. No more: today, virtually every type of RC tire is offered as a “pre-mount,” glued at the factory to a pair of wheels and ready to install. The exception is tires for competition models, which may be sold only unmounted—but even here, factory-mounted tires are popular. So, if you don’t have a need or desire to glue your own tires, you can easily avoid the task by buying a set of pre-mounted tires. And why would you want to glue your own tires, you ask? Two reasons: one, you might have a specific wheel style you prefer to use, which is not offered with a mounted tire. Or, you may want to choose a specific type of foam insert for the tire, or you may want to modify the insert, and you can’t do that if the tire is already glued to the wheel.
