WILD WILLY DRAG JEEP
Custom dragster builds can be pretty out there, but Dan’s is wilder than most—because, among other things, it uses the shell from a Tamiya Wild Willy Jeep! That classic body sits atop a Traxxas funny car chassis, but just look at the scale details backing up this unlikely pairing. He notched the Jeep’s stubby little hood to make room for a big blown Hemi V-8. The motor was reasonably detailed to start with, but Dan took it to new levels by adding plug wires, metal fuel lines, a more realistic blower belt, and—his specialty—custom headers fashioned from heavy-gauge copper wire. The cockpit got some attention too, with Willy holding the wheel and banging gears while a fully wired battery sits beside him. Just behind him lives the fuel cell with a realistic filler tube, as well as a nitrous bottle. Dan also fabricated a scale-looking Simpson parachute for the tailgate, just above the jumbo wheelie bar.
