CHESTER — The Queen Anne’s County Affiliate of the Rebuilding Together ( formerly Christmas in April) is busy preparing for National Rebuilding Day, which is April 30. All the work done by Rebuilding Together is done with the help of local volun- teers, both skilled and less skilled ( regular people). Money is needed to pay for supplies to complete the projects.

On Friday, April 8, Sweet Frog yogurt shop in Chester will donate a portion of their proceeds to help Rebuilding Together.

Rebuilding Together board members will be available at Sweet Frog from 5 to 8 p. m. on April 8 with information about Rebuilding Together and to respond to any questions people may have about the organization. Donations can be made at Sweet Frog on April 8 or mailed directly to Rebuilding Together, P. O. Box 73, Centreville, MD 21617. All contributions go directly into the fund for purchasing building materials.

All work done by the local Rebuilding Together is done in Queen Anne’s County, on homes that are owned by the residents. To qualify for help, homeowners must provide proof of ownership, residence and be current with their taxes. There are income guidelines, with candidates needing to be living near, at or below the poverty level.

The organization also tries to help elderly, disabled residents so they can live more comfortably in their homes.

On Saturday, April 30, Queen Anne’s Rebuilding Together will work with community volunteers on six homes in the county.
