Woman dies in head-on crash on state Route 18
CENTREVILLE — A Centreville woman died Sunday morning, April 17, when the car she was driving was struck head-on.
Timothy Stangler, 23, of Centreville was driving a 2005 Ford F-150 on state Route 18 east of John Brown Road shortly before 7 a.m. when, for unknown reasons, his vehicle crossed the double yellow line and struck an oncoming 2006 Acura passenger car driven by Ma Guadalupe Ramirez, 42, also of Centreville, according to Maryland State Police.
Ramirez’s car was pushed back into the woods; she was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Stangler’s Ford flipped over on its top, police said. He was flown by Maryland State Police helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. Police said his injuries appeared non-lifethreatening.
Queenstown and Goodwill volunteer fire departments and county paramedics all responded.
No drugs or alcohol were involved, but speed may have been a factor in the crash, police said. The investigation is continuing.
