SHEARING DEMONSTRATION The library welcomes all to a demonstration entitled, “From Sheep to Sweater” by Trish Gerhardt on Sunday, May 1, from 1 to 4 p.m. on the front porch of the library.

••• MAY FUN FOR KIDS All those youngsters ages 2 to 5, with an adult, will want to be in the Children’s Room with Miss Jenny on Tuesday, May 10, at 10:30 a.m. for parachute play and games.

The same group will want to be at the library again on Friday, May 20, at 10:30 a.m. for finger painting. Have fun finger painting, but be sure your child wears something that can get messy.

••• GARDENING BOOKS Now is the time to look over the display of gardening books you can find in the Main Reading Room.

••• MAY BOOK DISCUSSION The Book Discussion Group that meets at the Kent Island Yacht Club will be talking about J. Ryan Stradal’s novel, “Kitchens of the Great Midwest” on Thursday, May 26, beginning at 6 p.m. By turns quirky, hilarious, and vividly sensory, this is an unexpected mother-daughter story about the bittersweet nature of life — missed opportunities and its joyful surprises. It marks the entry of a brilliant new talent.
