Nancy Lee Straight
CENTREVILLE — Nancy Straight died at home on April 13, 2016, in Centreville, MD. She was the widow of Lee Straight, who passed away in 2014. She was 88 years old.
She was the child of Clarence and Louise Marsh of Frederick, MD; she was born in Sumatra where her father was employed by Goodyear at their rubber plantation. She, her mother and her two brothers, Clarence and Donald, fled just before World War II broke out. She earned a degree in English at Oklahoma University, lived in New York City, then moved to Akron, OH, where she married Lee Straight, and moved to Maryland in 1966.
She ran two businesses in Annapolis, raised her four kids, navigated around the Chesapeake, enjoyed reading and was a proud member for over 50 years of P.E.O., a women’s philanthropic educational organization.
In her later years, she loved going to the exercise programs at Centreville’s Curves, where the staff and fellow customers treated her so well.
She is sur vived by her children, Lisa Manning and husband George, grandchildren Lindsay and Tyler Manning, and great grandchild Damion Seidel, Greg and wife Denise Straight, Anne Straight, and Jeff Straight.
Funeral arrangements were private.
