Annual run to benefit hospice’s Camp New Dawn
CENTREVILLE — A portion of the proceeds of the annual CONNOR’Smiles run will sponsor children to attend the Compass Regional Hospice Camp New Dawn grief retreat in August.
CONNOR’Smiles will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at Camp Pecometh in Centreville. This event includes 5k- , 10k- and 10-mile runs; a fun run; and a cornhole tournament. There also will be face painting, inflatable basketball, a moon bounce, food and craft vendors, a silent auction with Ravens items and a Paul Reed Smith guitar raffle.
Camp New Dawn is a summer grief retreat for children, teens and families grieving after the death of a loved one. This year’s Camp New Dawn will be held Saturday, Aug. 13, to Monday, Aug. 15.
“Families are charged a nominal fee for Camp New Dawn registration so that money is never a barrier to attending camp,” said Kenda Leager, development officer, Compass Regional Hospice. “Compass Regional Hospice relies on community donations like the ones that will be raised by CONNOR’Smiles this year so that every child and family who will benefit from the experience can attend.”
