Residents urged to beware of tax increase

Record Observer - - Opinion - Centreville

Residents of Centreville need to be aware that two of the three Town Council members have indicated that they are leaning toward raising taxes. There has been discussion of as much as 6 cents over the constant yield rate of 37 cents in some form. This represents a significant increase to residents.

Several residents have been attending Town budget hearings since March and have made multiple suggestions of possible cuts without much success. Further, the Town Council has not provided any real forward vision for the town to justify such increases.

If you are not in favor of an increase, now is the time to notify Town Council members or attend Town Council meetings to voice your opinion. You can reach them by email through the town website, TownofCentreville.org.
